Bedroom Additions

Images of the attached full bath and spacious walk in closet. These designs were started once the main goal of the project, the bedroom, had been completed.

The purpose of this assignment was to design our "dream bedrooms" and then bring them to life by replicating them in a scale model.

Design Concept: Contemporary Comfort.

This space needed to serve multiple purposes from providing a place of relaxation and also a functional workspace.

When begining the design process I chose to opt for a common color scheme, neutral with an accent, and chose grey and beige tones with accents of cooler blue shades. This color scheme was implemented throughout the design of the bedroom and bathroom in order to cohesively blend the two spaces. Lighter grey toned wood flooring was chosen for the bedroom to balance out the darker grey of the walls and light hues of the furniture, Blue accents were incorporated into accesorries like throw pillows and paintings. Standard bedroom furniture, dresser, bedframe, head board, and night stands, were arranged in the room as well as a small office desk with a stool chair that can be tucked in to provide more standing space. Lastly a graphic printed area rug was chosen to be placed under the bedframe to break up the wood of the floors and the wood of the furniture.

In the bathroom, marble flooring was chosen to provide a sense of luxury and grey tile was chosen for the shower to match the original color scheme. Paint featured mainly white walls with a darker blue accent wall around the vanity, To add character to the space a barn door featuring light grey wood was used to cover the doorway leading to the walk in closet. The long walk in closet featured a single wall dedicated to storage while the opposing wall featured colorful artwork.

The overall design, bedroom, bathroom and closet, was spread out on a 20x25 ft space leaving the model to replicate that size on a 1ft=1in scale.

The list of real life expenses to recreate the bedroom space is listed below for your convenience, note that this does not include the  expenses for the bathroom or closet.
